Rachel's Gift
Rachel sees a stuffed donkey in the window of an antique toy store. She instantly falls in love with it and plans to save up enough allowance to make it her own. When she discovers that Mr. Smith, the toy shop owner, is hurt, she volunteers to help him. Although she wants the donkey, her wishes take a back seat. She learns the importance of unconditional kindness and genuine friendship. Will Rachel get her beloved donkey before it is sold?
Rachel's Gift celebrates unconditional kindness and the joy of true friendship.
“The Gift of Kindness – A sweet story about how the kindness shown towards others is the greatest gift. Rachel’s Gift is a wonderful book to share with kids and family.” — Goodreads review

"Rachel's Gift is a beautifully written story about a little girl who puts others before herself. I read this story to my students. They were intent and quiet throughout the book. We would stop and chat and make some predictions about upcoming pages. They were so excited at the end! Wonderful story and I highly recommend!"
~Therese M. Hubbell, Amazon Review
About the Author
Lisa Jacoby spent her teaching career observing and learning from her students. Reading to them was one of her favorite things to do. She noticed when her students were enjoying a book, and took note of what appealed to them. She wanted her own stories to entertain children, while teaching them something valuable.
Lisa has always loved to read. The library was and is her happy place. She started writing stories as a teenager. When her children became young adults, she felt inspired to put her ideas to paper once again.
Lisa received encouragement from her grandmother, who always had faith in her. Lisa wanted to dedicate a book to her, so she set out to self-publish Rachel's Gift. Rachel is modeled after some of the children she taught and her grandmother, who always gave without expectations.
Lisa Jacoby has a BA in English and an MST in Elementary Education. Mrs. Jacoby taught every grade from pre-kindergarten to grade 7 during the course of her career. She enjoyed teaching her amazing students throughout the years. Mrs. Jacoby recently retired from teaching and lives with her husband in the Hudson Valley.
